Sri Lanka tour New Zealand, 2023

Sri Lanka will tour New Zealand in March for two Tests, three ODI, and three T20I, and it will run till April 2023. In 2009, ICC announced Future Tour Programs(FTP), and the Sri Lanka tour of New Zealand is also a part of the FTP plan.

New Zealand was the winner of the first World Test Championship; the second World Test Championship is scheduled for 2023. Two test match series will be part of the ICC World Test Championship. Sri Lanka is present in the second position, and Black Caps is in the eighth position. Black Caps are almost out of the ICC World Test Championship, and on the other hand, Sri Lanka will try to win the maximum match and play the final of the Test Championship.

New Zealand is in third position in the ranking and is qualified for the world cup 2023. Sri Lanka is present in the eighth position, and they will try to hold their position after the series to qualify for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

About Sri Lanka tour New Zealand 2023 – SL vs NZ Cricket News

Both teams will play 2 Tests, 3 ODI, and 3 T20I matches. The ODI will be part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, while the test will be part of the ICC World Test Championship. Sri Lanka will start their campaign with a 2-day warm-up match on 4 March, and the last match of the tour will be played on 8 April.

The last T20 match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka was played in the T20 world cup 2022. Black Caps won the match by 65 runs. New Zealand batted first and put 167 runs on the scoreboard. New Zealand lost their wickets very early, but Glenn Phillips played an outstanding knock and hit a century. Other batters struggled to score runs. Sri Lanka came to chase 169 runs and got all out on 102 runs. Dasun Shanaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa touched the double-digit mark.

The last test between Sri Lanka and New Zealand was played in 2019, and Black Caps won the match by an innings and 65 runs. Sri Lanka came to bat in the first inning and posted 244 runs with the help of Dimuth Karunaratne’s half-century and Dhananjaya de Silva’s century. New Zealand declared their innings at 431-6 with a few amazing knocks.
