History – The Beginning in India
The Women's Cricket Association of India was founded in 1973. In Bangalore's M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Indian women's cricket team and the West Indies played their maiden Test match in 1976. They won their first Test match against the same squad two years after their debut in Patna's Moin-ul-Haq Stadium.
Additional competitions soon followed. In 1974, Kanpur hosted the Rani Jhansi Trophy, an Interzone limited-over-the-competition event, and the inter-university competition was held in Rajkot that same year. The junior and sub-junior events included under-15 and under-19 players, respectively. The winners of each zone fought for the Indira Priyadarshini Trophy, while the Nationals champions faced off against the Rest of India's squad for the Rau's Cup.
Following the second National in Varanasi, the executive committee was restructured, with Mrs. Chandra Tripathi and Mrs. Pramilabai Chavan taking on the roles of chairwoman and president, respectively. Together with founding Secretary Mr. MK Sharma, these two women played a vital role in developing women's cricket in its early years.
The WCAI received membership in the International Women's Cricket Council (IWCC) in 1973, and the government officially recognized it in 1978. In contrast to England, New Zealand, and other countries that have joined the men's association, the WCAI is still an independent organisation that is not tied to the BCCI.
In 1976, India won its maiden Test match at Patna in front of 25,000 fans by defeating West Indies. West Indies victory over India in the final Test at Jammu tied the series. Since 1975, a substantial quantity of international cricket has been played, although, until 1986, there was a lull.
It was the first time India had ever won the One Day series when they participated in the Centenary Celebration of New Zealand Cricket in 1995, which was very promising for women's cricket.
The Women's Cricket Association of India (WCAI) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) merged in 2006.
The Indian team's first ODI match versus England was played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata in 1978. In 2006, they played England in Derby's County Cricket Ground's first T20I match.

India Women's Cricket Team – Achievements
The 1970s saw the start of Indian women's international cricket, but nothing was known about it then. International competitions for women were subsequently introduced as needed. For their exceptional and challenging accomplishments in 1976, Shanta Rangaswamy, Diana Edulji, Shubhangi Kulkarni, and Sandhya Agarwal also received the Arjuna Award. India played their first ODI in 1978, the same year they hosted their first World Cup. They lost every game.

India's second-place finish at the 2017 World Cup earned the nation great distinction and increased interest in the women's vertical of the sport among the sizeable population of the nation. The player who contributed the most runs to our team, Mithali Raj, is second in the world regarding wickets taken, and Jhulan Goswami is rapidly closing in on that spot.
