Australian batter Travis Head has dismissed claims of a rift within the Test team following comments made by fast bowler Josh Hazlewood that sparked speculation about discord in the dressing room. After Australia’s dismal position at 3-12 while chasing a target of 534 against India, Hazlewood suggested that batters should be consulted about their approach, which some interpreted as hinting at a division within the team.
In response to the media, Hazlewood stated he was focused on the upcoming second Test rather than dwelling on the current situation. Former cricketer Adam Gilchrist reacted to Hazlewood's comments, suggesting they indicated a potential divide, while Michael Vaughan expressed surprise at such public remarks from an Australian player.
However, Head quashed these speculations, emphasizing unity within the squad despite recent disappointments. “All the boys hung out together last night; nothing changed in the way we were as a group,” he said. Australian captain Pat Cummins also reinforced this sentiment, asserting that the team remains tightly knit and enjoys playing together.
