Bangladesh Cricket Board included out-of-favor Nurul Hasan in their 25-member preliminary squad for the upcoming Asia Cup and the three-match T20I series against Netherlands, scheduled later this month.
Nurul and Mossadek Hossain were overlooked for quite some time despite scoring regularly in the domestic circuit.
While Nurul manage to make a cut in the preliminary squad Mossadek failed to draw the attention of the selection panel to get a nod to try his luck alongside other members of the preliminary squad. Mossadek was also not considered for the A team tour.
However, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has retained his place in preliminary squad for the upcoming Asia Cup despite his concerning form in the shortest format.
Miraz failed to put up an impressive show during Bangladesh's recent T20I tour of Sri Lanka and the series against Pakistan at home and away.
Nurul, alongside five other members of the preliminary squad are expected to be absent for most part of the preparation camp as they will travel to Australia for the upcoming T20 Series 2025, scheduled to take place in Darwin, Australia later this month.
Nurul Hasan, Mahidul Islam, Saif Hasan, Hasan Mahmud and Naim Sheikh, who are also included in the preliminary squad, will travel to Australia on August 9 to be part of the tournament.
Following the tournament Bangladesh A team will play a four-day game against South Australia. It is Bangladesh's second appearance in the tournament, following their debut in 2024.
"The available players will report for a fitness camp at SBNCS, Mirpur on 6 August. The skill practice will begin at the SBNCS from 15 August before the camp moves to Sylhet on 20 August," BCB said in a statement.
The Dutch side is expected to arrive on 26 August. They'll play three T20Is - on August 30, September 1 and September 3 - all in Sylhet, and depart on 4 September, shortly after the final game of the series.
