Mayank Yadav Set to Return for LSG After Injury Recovery

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mayank Yadav, who made headlines last year for clocking speeds of 157 kmph, is set to rejoin the team after recovering from a long-standing back and toe injury. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) has cleared Mayank to play, and he is expected to join the squad by Tuesday, ahead of LSG’s clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur on April 19. Sources at the NCA confirmed, “He is fighting fit and should be raring to go now.”

Mayank’s recovery comes as a major boost for LSG, who have struggled with injuries in their pace department. Earlier, Mohsin Khan was ruled out of IPL 2025, prompting the franchise to bring in Shardul Thakur as a replacement. Mayank’s return could strengthen the bowling attack, which has been missing his raw pace and wicket-taking ability.

The 22-year-old pacer from Delhi impressed in IPL 2024, picking up 7 wickets in 4 matches at an average of 12 and an economy of 6.98, including back-to-back Player of the Match awards. His performances earned him a spot in India’s T20I squad, where he claimed 4 wickets in 3 matches.

With Mayank’s return imminent, LSG will hope his fiery pace can help them climb the points table in IPL 2025.
