Former captain of Pakistan cricket team Shahid Afridi hit out at India for using security as an excuse to not travel to the neighbouring country. His remarks come in the backdrop of India’s unwillingness to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025. Afridi joins the beeline of former PAK stars who have been advocating for India to visit Pakistan.
As per the report, Afridi claimed that the Pakistani side had traveled to India despite receiving threats in the past. He said that India was using security as an excuse and that if they wanted to travel to Pakistan, then they would do so.
Afridi said, “We have gone to India so many times in difficult situations. We got threats still went to India. We will get to know their intention. We have always supported India. We got threats, but Pakistan Cricket Board and government always took the initiative.”
While Pakistan has threatened to skip the 2026 World Cup and has demanded written proof from the BCCI, it remains to be seen what decision the ICC would take with respect to the Champions Trophy 2025.
