Cricket Australia has announced the schedule for the 2025-26 Ashes series, featuring a shake-up in the usual line-up and more day-night games. Notably, Perth will host the opening Test from November 21-25, 2025, marking the first time since 1982-83 that Brisbane won’t start the series. Instead, Brisbane’s Gabba will hold the second Test as a day-night match from December 4-8, potentially the last Ashes game there due to redevelopment plans for the 2032 Olympics.

Shifting the opener to Perth, where Australia remains unbeaten, has sparked mixed reactions. Former all-rounder Shane Watson and others voiced concerns over the gabba’s demotion, yet the national team is content with the change. The pink-ball match at Brisbane is also controversial, as some players argue that the pink ball performs better on Adelaide’s surface than Brisbane’s.

The third Test, held In Adelaide from December 17-21, will return to a daytime format, aimed at attracting holiday crowds. Melbourne’s Boxing Day Test follows from December 26-30 at the MCG, maintaining its traditional allure, and the series wraps up with the New Year’s Test at the SCG from January 4-8, 2026. This series promises memorable moments in the historic Ashes rivalry.
