Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Ambati Rayudu has pledged his unwavering support for MS Dhoni amidst growing criticism of CSK’s poor performances in IPL 2025. Taking to social media platform X, Rayudu addressed fans who accused him of switching sides despite being a long-time CSK supporter. He reaffirmed his loyalty to Dhoni, stating, “I was, am, and will always be a Dhoni fan.” Rayudu also urged critics to stop spending money on “paid PR” and instead donate to the underprivileged.
Rayudu’s comments come after he faced backlash for criticizing CSK’s performances this season, including Dhoni’s batting position and his continued presence in the team. During CSK’s last match against Punjab Kings, Navjot Singh Sidhu referred to Rayudu as a “chameleon” on-air. Additionally, Rayudu had remarked that Dhoni’s role in CSK was more about brand value than cricketing contributions.
While speaking, Rayudu highlighted the unhealthy obsession fans have with Dhoni, noting that it can be daunting for newcomers. He pointed out incidents where fans have cheered for other players’ dismissals just to see Dhoni bat. Rayudu warned that such behavior might harm CSK’s team dynamics and branding in the long run.
