Afghanistan has announced its 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, marking their debut in this prestigious tournament. HashmatullahShahidi will captain the team, which includes key players like RahmanullahGurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, who is returning from an ankle injury. The squad also features experienced all-rounder Mohammad Nabi and star spinner Rashid Khan.

Afghanistan enters the tournament with confidence, having performed impressively in recent ICC events, including reaching the semifinals of the T20 World Cup last year and showcasing strong performances at the 2023 Cricket World Cup. The batting lineup looks solid with Shahidi, Gurbaz, and Rahmat Shah leading the charge.

Notably absent from the squad is Mujeeb Ur Rahman, a crucial player in Afghanistan’s previous World Cup campaign. The Afghanistan Cricket Board explained that Mujeeb has been advised by his doctor to focus on T20 formats to ensure full recovery before returning to ODIs.

In addition to the main squad, Afghanistan has named three traveling reserves. The team aims to make a significant impact in their Inaugural Champions Trophy campaign, starting with their first match against England on February 20.
