The all-rounder of the Australian cricket team, Annabelle Sutherland, starred with both bat and ball as the Australia Women crushed South Africa by an innings and 284 runs in the only Test at Perth on Saturday.
After hosts posted a massive 575 for 9 declared in their first innings at the WACA, the Proteas women got bundled out for 215, handing Australia Women their biggest win in their Test cricket history.
Earlier, Australia’s Annabel Sutherland smashed the fastest double hundred in women’s Test history to help Australia post a mammoth total. Sutherland reached the double century in 248 balls on the second day.
South Africa, who were bowled out for a mere 76 in their first innings, resumed from 67 for 3 on Day 3. Tazmin Brits (31), Delmi Tucker (64) and Chloe Tryon (64) contributed but failed to make a big score, which led to Proteas’ defeat.
Sutherland ended the game with a double century with a bat and five wickets with a ball as the Australian women continued their dominant run across all formats.
