Temba Bavuma will lead South Africa’s squad for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, aiming to build on their recent strong performances. The Proteas were runners-up in last year’s Men’s T20 World Cup and are finalists in the upcoming World Test Championship. The team welcomes back pace spearheads Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi, both of whom have recovered from injuries.

Nortje returns to ODI cricket after missing the 2023 World Cup due to a stress fracture in his back, while Ngidi has been out of action since October 2024 due to a groin injury. South Africa has retained 10 players from the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup, ensuring continuity.

New additions include Tony de Zorzi, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, and Wiaan Mulder, all set to make their debut at a 50-over ICC event. The squad reflects a blend of experience and fresh talent as they prepare for the tournament.

The Champions Trophy will be held from February 19 to March 9, with South Africa looking to capitalize on their recent form and challenge for the title. Their campaign will begin with matches against Afghanistan and Australia in Karachi and Rawalpindi, respectively.
