Rohan Jaitley To Replace Jay Shah As BCCI Secretary; To Take The Authority On December 1

Rohan Jaitley is reportedly the frontrunner to succeed Jay Shah as the next Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after Shah steps down in November. Shah, who was elected unopposed as the next Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in August, will assume his new position on December 1. Jaitley, along with Gujarat Cricket Association Secretary Anil Patel, is expected to compete for the BCCI Secretary role, but Jaitley is widely considered the favorite. Reports indicate there will be no Special General Meeting (SGM) to discuss Shah’s replacement.

Rohan Jaitley, son of former Union Minister ArunJaitley, began his cricket administration career around four years ago when he was elected President of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), a position his father held for 14 years. During his tenure, Jaitley has introduced several reforms and improvements in DDCA, including successfully managing five ODI World Cup matches at the ArunJaitley Stadium in Delhi in 2023. He also launched the inaugural edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL).

Jay Shah, who has served as BCCI Secretary since 2019, will continue in his role until the end of November before transitioning to the ICC Chairman role in December.
