The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly ready to accept a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy 2025, as confirmed by India Today. This decision comes after India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan due to security concerns, leading the International Cricket Council (ICC) to propose a hybrid hosting arrangement. However, the PCB has set forth three conditions for this acceptance.
Under the proposed model, all matches involving India will take place in Dubai, including group stage matches, semi-finals, and the final if India qualifies. If India does not progress beyond the group stages, Pakistan will host the semi-finals and final in Lahore. Additionally, the PCB insists that if India hosts any future ICC events, Pakistan’s matches must be played at neutral venues.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently met with Emirates Cricket Board head Mubashir Usmani in Dubai to discuss preparations for the tournament, which is scheduled for February 19 to March 9, 2025. Naqvi emphasized that Pakistan is ready to host the Champions Trophy and that all preparations are on track. The ICC aims to finalize these arrangements soon amid ongoing discussions.
