With the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) agreeing to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 under a hybrid model, attention now turns to the potential for an India vs Pakistan match. Originally, the tournament was set to take place across three venues: Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, with India scheduled to play at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. However, due to the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) refusal to send their team to Pakistan, the likelihood of this match occurring in Lahore was nearly impossible.
Recent reports indicate that the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan matches may instead be held in Dubai. Cricket Pakistan has suggested that not only will Dubai host the Champions Trophy 2025, but it will also serve as the venue for all future India vs Pakistan encounters over the next three years, including matches in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 and Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, both of which are scheduled to take place in India.
The PCB is advocating for a permanent solution regarding venue arrangements for these high-profile matches, emphasizing that they seek respect rather than financial incentives. “We don’t want money; we want respect,” stated a PCB official.
