Virat Kohli’s form has become a growing concern for the Indian team ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. The former captain has struggled recently, scoring just 250 runs in his last six Tests at an average of 22.72, with only one half-century to his name. Kohli’s struggles were particularly evident in the Test series against New Zealand, where he had a hard time facing spinners, and India suffered a humiliating 0-3 whitewash.
Despite these recent struggles, 1983 World Cup winner KrishnamachariSrikkanth remains confident that Kohli will regain his form during the Australia tour. Kohli has a stellar track record against Australia, having scored 2042 runs in 25 Tests at an average of 47.48, including eight centuries. He has also excelled on Australian soil, amassing 1352 runs in 13 Tests at an impressive average of 54.08, with six centuries.
Srikkanth, speaking on his YouTube channel, dismissed concerns about Kohli’s future in Test cricket, emphasizing that the star batter still has time to bounce back. “I believe Virat Kohli will make his comeback in Australia. That’s his area, his strength. It’s too early to talk about moving on from him. One or two bad years of Test cricket don’t define a player like Kohli,” Srikkanth stated.
