Sri Lanka Cricket Player News

Up until 2016, Sri Lanka was a trendy Twenty20 team. On June 15, 2006, Sri Lanka faced off against England in their inaugural Twenty20 International (T20I) game, which they won by two runs. 2014's ICC World Twenty20 was won by Sri Lanka, who defeated India by a margin of six wickets.

Sri Lanka hasn't been able to rule the game as it used to since the retirement of top Sri Lankan players. Still, the team develops several gifted cricketers that have the potential to do great things for the country in the future.

At CBTF Speed News, we aim to provide you with the first-hand & latest news on all Sri Lanka Cricketers than you find anywhere else.

Dasun Shanaka

Dasun Shanaka joined the Sri Lankan side as an all-rounder but has since only featured as a batter, particularly in T20 Internationals. The club has recently had some fantastic triumphs thanks to his presence in the goal. Against Zimbabwe in the 2022 T20I World Cup warm-up game, he scored an undefeated 16 off 13 balls. In 6 T20Is, he scored 111 runs, averaging 22.20.

Wanindu Hasaranga

With 26 wickets taken in the IPL 2022 for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Wanindu Hasaranga finished just one wicket behind Purple Cap winner Yuzvendra Chahal as the top wicket-taker in T20Is in 2021. He was the second greatest wicket-taker in the Asia Cup 2022 with 9 takedowns in 6 T20Is, averaging 18.89, while he scored 66 runs in 6 T20Is at an average of 22.

Wanindu Hasaranga scored 37-run undefeated innings against Zimbabwe in the 2022 T20I World Cup warm-up game. Nevertheless, he had little luck with the bat.

Chamika Karunaratne

In the Asia Cup 2022, Chamika Karunaratne took 7 victims in 6 T20Is while averaging 20.71 and adding 66 runs at an average of 33. The right-arm pacer defeated Zimbabwe in the 2022 T20I World Cup warm-up game, taking 2/26 in 3 overs. He killed Sikander Raza and Regis Chakbva, the two opponents.

Mahesh Theekshana

The motion and bowling style of 22-year-old Mahesh Theekshana, who frequently uses the carrom ball to trick the hitters, are somewhat reminiscent of those of Indian bowling ace Ravichandran Ashwin. In the Asia Cup 2022, he took six victims in as many T20Is, averaging 27 and a 6.75 economy.

In the middle overs, his partnership with Wanindu Hasaranga will be essential for Sri Lanka. In the 2022 T20I World Cup warm-up match against Zimbabwe, he picked up 2/39 in 4 overs.

Dilshan Madushanka

Dilshan Madushanka, a left-arm seamer who is 21 years old, has also been selected for the Asia Cup 2022 team. With Matheesha Pathirana, he made his debut in the Asia Cup 2022 match against Afghanistan, taking six wickets at an average of 26 in six T20Is. In the 2022 T20I World Cup warm-up match against Zimbabwe, he returned without picking up a wicket, with figures of 0/25 in 4 overs.

Dushmantha Chameera

Due to an injury, Dushmantha Chameera could not participate in the 2022 Asia Cup. In the 2022 T20I World Cup warm-up match against Zimbabwe, he returned without picking up a wicket, with figures of 0/25 in 4 overs.

Sri Lanka participated in these exhibition games following their unexpected victory last month in the 2022 Asia Cup competition. Players from Sri Lanka put up all-around solid performances throughout the competition, and the return of famous pacers Dushmantha Chameera and Lahiru Kumara gave them another boost.
