Afghanistan tour of Ireland, 2022 Introduction
The Afghanistan cricket team visited Ireland in August 2022 to play 5 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) as part of their tour. The tour originally included a one-off Test match, but this was omitted from the schedule when Cricket Ireland announced it in March 2022. Later that same month, Cricket Ireland announced the dates and venues for that year's tour. Both teams used these matches as a means of preparing for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup which will be held in 2022.
In the first and second Twenty20 Internationals, Ireland played exceptionally well and won easily. But Afghanistan showed an impressive fighting spirit in the 3rd and 4th T20Is, and they won them. A winner was determined for the series in the 5th ODI, which was the final match of the series. Rain-affected conditions led to an Irish victory in the final match to win the series 3–2. During the series, George Dockrell (Ire) was named the player of the series.
