The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been forced to revise its plans for the Champions Trophy 2025 following an objection from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the inclusion of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the trophy tour. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has ensured that the PCB limits the tour to three cities—Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.
Initially, the PCB had planned to kick off the trophy tour on November 16 in Islamabad, moving to cities like Murree, Hunza, Skardu, and Muzaffarabad—regions that both India and Pakistan lay claim to. However, this did not sit well with BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, who raised concerns with the ICC. The BCCI has also been firm on its stance of not sending the Indian team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, leaving the PCB in a difficult position, with the possibility of withdrawing from the tournament altogether if not granted full hosting rights.
A PCB source confirmed to the Indian Express that changes to the trophy tour have been made, acknowledging the ICC’s approval of the tour but emphasizing that the BCCI’s concerns had not been factored in initially. Discussions between the PCB and ICC are ongoing to ensure the Champions Trophy remains well-promoted in Pakistan under the revised plan.
