Bangladesh left-arm spinner Nahida Akter feels that the touring party is struggling to adapt with the wind in the ongoing tri-nation series in Edinburgh.
Bangladesh lost their opening game of the tri-series to Scotland by eight wickets while Netherlands beat them by eight runs to add more agony for the touring party. The defeats have raised quite a few questions as they prepare for the World Cup.
Nahida told Cricbuzz on Monday that they are finding it hard to adapt in Scotland considering they don't play in this kind of conditions, though she refused to put it down as an excuse.
"This wind is definitely a bit difficult (to adjust to) because we don't usually play directly in these kind of wind," said Nahida. "We only play in these conditions when we come here and otherwise we rarely play in such conditions,. I won't give this as an excuse but definitely its difficult," she added.
"The sudden gusts of wind come so unexpectedly sometimes that you can't control it. For instance, I tried to bowl one on the off-stump, but the wind caught it so much that it carried it way outside."
Bangladesh are left with two must-win games in the tri-series to make it to the final and according to Nahida the major challenge lies in adapting.
"What I want to say is that the weather situation is not in your hands but the quicker you can adapt and adjust here the quicker you can get out of this rut. This is definitely a massive learning curve for us. The sooner we can adapt from here the better, and I am confident we will do better in the remaining matches as we are quite aware what to expect from these kind of conditions now," he said.
Nahida added that she is not ready to push the panic button as she is expecting different wickets in ICC Women's T20 World Cup from the ones they are playing the tri-series.
"There is no turn on these kind of pitches and this is a purely batting wicket (in Scotland) as the ball is coming onto the bat very nicely. It is definitely a bit challenging for the bowlers and now we are trying our best to handle this challenge well in the tri-series.
"But there is no point pressing the panic button yet after just couple of games in the tri-series as I feel the wickets will be different in the ICC tournament as they will provide a beautiful wicket that is good for both bowlers and batters and I expect that kind of wicket in the ICC events," she added.
