Pakistan will be without Shan Masood for the second Test against West Indies in Port of Spain, starting on Sunday, after the left-hander was ruled out with a finger injury. Masood injured the index finger of his left hand after being struck by a Jayden Seales delivery while batting in Pakistan's first innings of the opening Test in Tarouba, which the visitors lost by 90 runs.

Masood is also a doubt for the upcoming Test series against England, with the Pakistan Cricket Board stating that his availability for the opening Test in Leeds, beginning on August 19, will depend on his recovery.

"Pakistan Test batter Shan Masood has been ruled out of the second Test against the West Indies after sustaining an injury to the index finger of his left hand during the first Test at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad," the PCB said in a statement."Following a scan and clinical assessment, Shan is currently undergoing treatment from the Pakistan team medical panel."

"His availability for the first Test against England starting 19 August at Leeds will depend on his recovery and clinical progress," said the PCB, adding that Masood "will remain with the team."

Pakistan's batting struggled in the first Test, and Masood's absence leaves the visitors with a selection decision ahead of the second game at Queen's Park Oval. Abdullah Shafique and Saud Shakeel, who were added to the squad after Abdullah Fazal was ruled out of the series with a back injury, are among the contenders to replace Masood. Uncapped batter Awais Zafar is also in contention for a Test debut.
