Chennai Super Kings have signed Karnataka all-rounder Macneil Hadley Noronha as a replacement for the injured Ramakrishna Ghosh for the remainder of IPL 2026. The five-time champions have written to the BCCI and await approval to finalise the signing, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed to Cricbuzz.

The 24-year-old Noronha enjoyed a fine season for the Mangaluru Dragons in their title-winning 2025 campaign at the Maharaja Trophy. A powerful striker, he hit 253 runs from 13 games at a strike-rate of 148.82. This also included a season tally of 19 sixes. Noronha also bowled offspin in the competition, taking 10 wickets at an economy of 7.44. This included a best of 2 for 25 which he achieved in the final against Hubli Tigers. He was called up to the Karnataka squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and featured in three games.

Noronha comes in place of the 28-year-old Ghosh, who suffered a season-ending foot fracture on his IPL debut against Mumbai Indians May 3. It has been an injury-laden campaign for CSK despite their impressive comeback in the second half of the season. They lost their lead Indian seamer Khaleel Ahmed and star batter Ayush Mhatre to season-ending injuries.

They had already been without Nathan Ellis before the start of the season, while his replacement, Spencer Johnson, was unavailable until recently due to an injury of his own. CSK have also been without their talisman MS Dhoni since the start of the season, with the former captain battling a calf strain.

CSK replaced Mhatre with Akash Madhwal but are yet to name a replacement for Khaleel Ahmed.
