Former coach of Indian cricket team Rahul Dravid is all set to return to the IPL circle in 2025. As per reports, Dravid is in talks with the Rajasthan Royals to become the side’s new head coach. The Karnataka batter has a long association with RR, from leading them as a captain to going on to become the team’s mentor.
As per the statement of a source, “Talks are going on between RR and Dravid, and an announcement in this regard is around the corner.”
Dravid was last associated with RR in 2014 and 2015, playing the role of a mentor. He took over as the side’s captain in the IPL 2012, taking over the responsibility from Shane Warne. While his first season as captain ended with a 7th place finish for RR, he managed to lead the side into the playoffs in 2014.
After 2015, Dravid was associated with the BCCI, having been the head coach for India’s U-19 and India A teams. He then became the director at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) before becoming the new head coach for India in 2021. Dravid finished his career as India coach on a high note, leading the team to their second T20 World Cup win.
With Gambhir replacing Dravid as the new coach, the doors for his return to the IPL are open for the latter.
