Zimbabwe and South Africa are all set to face each other in the Super 12 round of the T20 World Cup. Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to bat first. Due to rain, the match started late, and the board decided to play this game for only 9 overs.

Finally, after a long wait, the match started with Chakabva and Ervine on the crease, and Rabada opened the attack. Zimbabwe lost their first wicket of Ervine in the 2nd over when Parnell spelled a full delivery ball to him. Ervine got the ball low on the bat, and Ngidi ran back from mid-on and took a safe catch.

Chakbawa tried to chase a good run score by hitting boundaries but could not go beyond the 2nd over. Nigidi dismissed him with short of a length delivery outside off. Chakabva tried to hot hard but feathered an edge behind.

South Africa pacers took 4 wickets within 5 overs and gave only 31 scores to Zimbabwe after 5 overs.  Madhevere and Milton Shumba tried hard to achieve a good run chase. Ngidi did the early damage, but Madhevere got stuck into Rabada in the penultimate over, and some luck via penalty runs – 5 of them came Zimbabwe’s way to further boost them in the final. Milton Shumba got out in the last ball of the first inning. Zimbabwe finished the first inning after scoring 79 runs, with a loss of 5 wickets.

The second inning started with de Kock and Bavuma on the crease, and Chatara opened the attack. In the first over, de Kock hit 4 fours and 1 six. An excellent start from South Africa. But the rain returned and became heavier, and the umpires called for the covers.

The board has decided to reduce the overs to 7 overs, and the target was set to 64 runs. de Kock was at his pace and hit boundary after boundary. Again 4 fours in the second over with the bat of de Kock. South Africa got 2 free hits after the 2nd over.

As a result of the rain, the game has been canceled. In a World Cup, South Africa has been hampered by rain, which might not be the last time.
