The winner of the match between Pakistan (four points) and Bangladesh (four points) will now have a chance to go to the semifinals. In the day’s second match, they will square off at the same site.
The Netherlands’ surprise victory also puts it in solid stead to finish in the top four in Group 2.
Meanwhile, if India defeats Zimbabwe, India will finish first in Group 2 with eight points. Next, India meets England in the second semifinal on Thursday at the Adelaide Oval. If the Men in Blue falter in the match, they might finish second and face New Zealand in the first semifinal on Wednesday in Sydney.
After 2007, 2014, and 2016, India qualified for the semifinals for the fourth time.
