At North-West University No1 Ground, Potchefstroom, the women squads, Rwanda and New Zealand came to the crease. Rwanda women won the toss and opted to bat first.

Gisele Ishimwe and Merville Uwase opened the batting attack on the opening bowling of Olivia Anderson. In the first over only, Uwase lost her wicket and the batter, Cynthia Tuyizere took the batting charge. In the 3rd over, Ishimwe bought the first four and the side got a score of 14/1.

Scoring just 3 runs in 11 balls, Tuyizere lost her wicket to Paige Loggenberg. After 6 overs, their score shifted to 27/2.

With Gisele Ishimwe and Henriette Isimbi on the pitch, RWA women jumped to a score of 43/2 after 11 overs. Scoring 28 off 28 deliveries, Ishimwe got a dismissal from Kate Chandler.

After 13 overs, RWA crossed the half-century, standing at a score of 51/2. Adding 14 runs in 12 balls, Belyse Murekatete lost her wicket to Abigail Hotton in the 15th over.

In 20 overs, Rwanda women posted 96 runs on the scoreboard with a loss of 7 wickets.

Chasing down the target of 97, Emma McLeod and Georgia Plimmer opened the batting attack on the opening bowling of Henriette Ishimwe. In the first over only, Plimmer crunched two boundaries. After 3 overs, New Zealand women got a score of 19-2.

After 6 overs, New Zealand women’s score shifted to 35-3. McLeod kept smashing boundaries and the side crossed the century, standing at a score of 60-4 after 11 overs.
