Ireland Tour of Zimbabwe, 2023: Zimbabwe Knocked Out Ireland by 3 Wickets (DLS Method) 

Zimbabwe and Ireland came against each other for the opening match of the 3-match ODI series. With both the captains on the pitch, Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Stirling and Doheny opened the batting attack on the opening bowling of Ngarava. In the 2nd over only, Doheny lost his wicket to Nyauchi and the right-handed batter, Andrew Balbirnie came to the middle and he bought the first four of the innings. After 3 overs, Ireland got a score of 9-1. After 10 overs, Ireland jumped to a score of 28-2.

After 15 overs, Ireland crossed the half-century with a score of 55-2. With Tector and Balbrinie smacking multiple fours, the side jumped to a score of 76-2. In the 27th over, Balbirnie reached his 14th ODI fifty and the side crossed the century after 28 overs, standing at a score of 107-2.

In the 37th over, Ireland Tector also reached his 8th ODI fifty while Balbirnie crossed his century in the 41st over. After 42 overs, Ireland had a score of 202-2. While others kept losing their wickets, Tector stood tough for the side.

In 50 overs, Ireland registered 288 runs with a loss of 4 wickets.

Chasing the target of 289, Madhevere and Kaia came to the crease to open the batting attack on the opening bowling of Mark Adair. After 3 overs, Zimbabwe had a score of 5. In the 4th over, Kala bought the first four of the side. Adding just 2 in 14 balls, Madhevere lost his wicket to Adair. After 9  overs, Zimbabwe’s score shifted to 32-1.

Scoring 19 off 39, Kala lost his wicket to Hume. After 13 overs, Zimbabwe crossed the half-century with a score of 51-2. Adding 38 runs in 43 balls, Ervine lost his wicket to Tector. After 21 overs, Zimbabwe jumped to a score of 90-3.

After 23 overs, Zimbabwe crossed the century with a score of 101-4. In the 28th over, Burl slammed two fours and a six. After 32 overs, Zimbabwe jumped to 171-4.

After 33.2 overs, Zimbabwe reached a score of 175 with a loss of 4 wickets. Then, rain interrupted the gameplay. Then, the revised target for Zimbabwe was 214 runs (39 runs in 22 balls).

In 37 overs, Zimbabwe scored 214 runs with a loss of 7 wickets and won the match by 3 wickets, following DLS method.
