Womens Premier League 2023: UP Warriorz Triumphed Over Gujarat Giants by 3 Wickets

Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz faced each other in the 17th match of WPL at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. Gujarat Giants won the toss and decided to bat first.

Sophia Dunkley and Laura Wolvaardt came to bat, and Anjali Sarvani opened the bowling attack. Wolvaardt hit a four on the third ball, and it was the first boundary of the match. In the second over, Dunkley hit back-to-back two fours and Wolvaardt ended the over with a six. In the 5th over, Wolvaardt got out after scoring 17(13). In 20 overs, Gujarat Giants scored 178 runs with a loss of 6 wickets.

Chasing 179 runs, Alyssa Healy and Devika Vaidya came to bat, and Kim Garth opened the bowling attack. In the 2nd over, Healy hit back-to-back two boundaries and got out after scoring 12(8). In the 3rd over, Kiran Navgire hit a four on the third ball and got out after scoring 4(4). In the 5th over, McGrath hit back-to-back two fours and Devika Vaidya got out after scoring 7(8) on the fifth ball. In the 6th over, McGrath smashed three fours and UP Warriorz reached 50 runs. After 6 overs, UPW was at 52-3.

In the 8th over, Grace Harris hit back-to-back two fours. In the 9th over, McGrath hit two fours. In the 11th over, McGrath took a single and the partnership between Grace Harris and Tahlia McGrath reached 50 runs. In the 12th over, Grace Harris smashed back-to-back three boundaries and UP Warriorz reached 100 runs. After 12 overs, UPW was at 106-3.

In the 14th over, McGrath got out after scoring 57(38). In the 15th over, Deepti Sharma hit a four and got out on the next ball after scoring 6(5). In the 17th over,  Grace Harris hit a four on the second ball and scored a half-century. UP reached 150 runs in the 18th over. In the 19th over, Grace Harris hit a six on the fourth ball and got out after scoring 72(41) on the next ball. In the 20th over, Sneh Rana hit a winning boundary, UPW scored 181-7 and won the match by three wickets.
