International League T20: Gulf Giants Eliminated Sharjah Warriors With 7 Wickets Win
In the 30th match of ILT20, Gulf Giants and Sharjah Warriors came face to face in the playoffs. Gulf Giants won the toss and opted to bowl first at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Warriors showed a dismal batting performance in today’s must-win match. They were 65-4 in 10 overs and showed no intent to come back in the game. They kept losing one wicket after the other and got all out at 107 in 18.3 overs. David Wiese picket up a well-deserved fifer. Kohler-Cadmore and Mohammad Nabi only scored 20+ runs in today’s match.
In the run chase, Tom Banton and James Vince came at the crease and Woakes opened the bowling attack. Both openers set up the winning stage for Giants as they put 31-0 in 4 overs on the scoreboard. However, Tom Banton was dismissed by Stoinis at 11 (16). In 10 overs, the score was 60-1 and Grandhomme and Vince were batting. Colin de Grandhomme smashed a 28-ball 35, and Vince chipped in with a 31-ball 27. The Warriors’ bowlers did benefit from the new ball’s swing, but there simply wasn’t enough run support to put the visitors under the necessary-rate pressure.
Giants ended up knocking Sharjah Warriors out of the league and became the table topper by winning today’s match by 7 wickets.
