India Vs Australia 1st T20: SKY and Ishan’s Hit Show Helped India Beat Australia

In the first T20 international match of Australia tour of India 2023 played at Vishakhapatnam, India won the toss and opted to bowl first. Australia looked confident after winning the ODI World Cup. With a brilliant century off just 47 balls, Josh Inglis was the standout of that innings. He entered the game at the fall of Matthew Short in the fifth over, and he immediately got to work. For the most part, Steve Smith kept company with Inglis as they combined for a second wicket partnership of 130. But while Inglis was smacking it all over the pitch, Smith found it difficult to get going, managing just a 41-ball 52 before getting out. His blow could retaliate against Australia on what is a crushing blow in Visakhapatnam. Australia finished with an impressive 208 points.

In reply to this mammoth total, India lost Ruturaj Gaikwad early as the diamond duck and then Jaiswal was dismissed. He was followed by SKY who came to bat and charged Australia right from the first over. After 5 overs, India was 54-2. Ishan Kishan and SKY added 112 runs before the partnership ended with the dismissal of Kishan (58 off 39). The score was 134-3 in 12.3 overs. SKY was still there batting for his team, hitting sixes without any fear. His approach was ruthless. Before getting dismissed, SKY brought India at the verge of clossing the game with a victory. SKY bagged 80 off 42 and India was at 194-5. Near the end, it became a little nerve-wracking, but Rinku Singh remained composed as he led India to victory. On his leadership debut, SKY masterminded an exquisite victory for India. On any surface, chasing 209 wasn’t going to be simple, but SKY and Ishan Kishan carried their unrelenting push all the way to Australia. There was plenty of intent, not the slightest lack of it. It’s also worth thinking back to Mukesh Kumar’s outstanding final over from the first innings, especially in light of how tight the game was.

India won the nail bitting match by 2 wickets with Rinku Singh closing the game with the match winning six.
