England is on the tour of New Zealand for a 2-test match series. The first test match started at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. New Zealand won the toss and decided to field first.

Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley came to bat for England, and Tim Southee opened the bowling attack. England has been brilliant in test cricket recently, and the Kiwis are at the top in their home. The English batter continued their aggressive playing style and smashed back-to-back two fours in the second over. It was also the first boundary of the match. Zak Crawley was the first batter to get out, and Southee took his wickets.

England reached 50 runs in the 9th over. In the 10th over, Duckett hit four fours and reached his half-century in the next over with a four in 36 balls. Duckett smashed a four, and England reached 100 runs in the 16th over. Blair Tickner took the wicket of Duckett(84) in the 19th over, and it was his first wicket. England scored 134-2 in the first session.

Ollie Pope got out after scoring 42(65) after the start of the second session. Root also got out after scoring 14(22) runs. The break helped the Black Caps, and they sent both batters to the pavilion. Ben Stokes and Harry Brook made a partnership after the 4th wicket, and their partnership reached fifty runs in 36.6 overs. Stokes got out in 37.5 balls after scoring 19(28). Harry Brook reached his half-century in 43 balls with a four. Harry Brook continued hitting the boundary. After the end of the second session, England was 279-5.

Harry Brook and Ben Foakes resumed the batting in the third session, and Harry Brook got out after scoring 89(81) in 54.1 overs. England declared the innings at 325-9. England was looking forward to taking the advantage of new balls under the lights.

Tom Latham and Devon Conway came to bat for the Black Caps, and James Anderson opened the bowling attack. The first boundary of the second innings came with a bye. Latham got out after scoring 1(13) in the 5th over. Anderson struck and took the wicket of Kane Williamson 6(21) in the 11.2 overs. Henry Nicholls got out in the 13.3 overs after scoring 4(7). New Zealand scored 37-3 and was lagging by 288 runs at the end of day 1.
