New Zealand and Bangladesh came against each other in the second ODI at Shere Bangla National Stadium. The par total that New Zealand achieved here is their highest at Mirpur, but they were unable to bat out their 50 overs. As Mustafizur and Khaled took three early wickets, they didn't have the best of starts. After Blundell and Nicholls produced a 95-run partnership for the fourth wicket, they stabilised the innings. However, after that partnership was broken, they continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, and it was only because of the efforts of Sodhi, Jamieson, and Ferguson that the total to be 254. For every kind of bowler, the surface has something to offer, and New Zealand will want to take advantage of it.
In the run chase, after Jamieson picked up Litton during the powerplay, it was Sodhi's turn to shine. He struck twice in his next over, forcing out Tanzid and Sarkar. Only Tamim and Mahmudullah demonstrated any sign of application, and even then, their 40s were unable to get Bangladesh even near to the goal. Sodhi completed with career-best ODI stats and had great support from his teammates. IshSodhi was instrumental in New Zealand's victory over Bangladesh, ending their losing streak in one-day internationals dating back to 2008. He was using the bat and ball on his day. Towards the end of New Zealand's innings, he added significant runs, and he afterwards weaved a web around the Bangladesh batters. Bangladesh bowled out for 168 in 41.1 overs.
The series is now 1-0 in favour of New Zealand. They have struggled to defeat Bangladesh at home, so this victory would mean a lot to them. Additionally, it would be very disappointing if their star spinner picked up a 6-fer right before the World Cup. If Bangladesh wants to tie the series, their batters will need to perform better.
