T20 WORLD CUP 2022: Sri Lanka vs United Arab Emirates, 6th Match – Group A Preview

The 6th match will be played between the Asia Cup Champions and the United Arab Emirates. In the final match, they defeated Pakistan and headed into the qualifiers, winning the Asia Cup title.

India was also expected to be the favorites in that tournament but SL defeated India as well but they lost a match against Namibia that posed a tricky situation for Lankans. Skipper, Dasun Shanaka lamented the loss of wickets within the powerplay as it being one of the reasons for their defeat in the match.

Sri Lanka began their T20 World Cup campaign in a sloppy condition, losing their game to Namibia by 55 runs. This was a huge loss that dragged their net run rate down to -2.750 and today they’ll need to put in more effort for a big win.

Sri Lanka’s rivalry against Sri Lanka had them tottering at 93-6 in a particular stage but then it allowed the opposition to stand them at 163-7 on the scoreboard. They delivered a shambolic performance and no batter could hold the innings for long.

The team may rely on the likes of Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa for making high scores. Dasun Shanaka, the captain of the team gave a score of 29 against Namibia and he will be a reliable batter for the team.

On the bowling side, Sri Lankans might be much fortunate as off-spinner Maheesh Theeksana did a great job to open the bowling. Moreover, they can unleash star leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga who plays in the middle overs.

The United Arab Emirates lost their opening match against the Netherlands but they proudly fought till the end of the game.

After posting a score of 111-8, the squad bowled tightly through the middle overs while the Netherlands could only play for the innings with remaining three wickets.

UAE may have a major concern for their batting and they have Chirag Suri and Muhammad Waseem in their squads as the solid openers. On a two-paced wicket in the cricket match with the Netherlands, Waseem got a gritty 41. His career strike rate of 146.09 could be seen as the trump card for the team today.

Wicket-keeper batter Vriitya Aravind would be another player that UAE might rely on.
