At John Davies Oval, Queenstown, the teams Auckland and Canterbury came to the middle. Canterbury won the toss and chose to field first.

To open the batting attack, Worker and Cole Briggs came to the middle with Ed Nuttall on the opening bowling attack. In the first over only, Worker and Briggs hit two boundaries, one each. After 3 overs, AKL got a score of 15.

ODonnell stood tough for the side and kept hitting fours and sixes; AKL jumped up to a score of 80-3 after 14 overs. In the 17th over, he reached his 50-run stand and the side crossed the century with a score of 104-3.

Adding 51 runs in 46 balls, ODonnell got a dismissal from William ORourke. In 20 overs, AKL scored 140 runs with a loss of 5 wickets.

To chase down the target of 141, Bowes and McClure came to the crease on the throw from Matt Gibson. In the first over, McClure got the first four for the side. In the immediate over, he slammed three sixes and a four. After 3 overs, CNTBRY got a score of 30.

Scoring 32 runs in 14 balls, McClure got a dismissal from Matt Gibson. In 5.3 overs, Canterbury scored 48 runs with a loss of 1 wicket.

Rain interrupted the innings of Canterbury and they won against Auckland  by 14 runs due to the DLS method.
