Super Smash 2022-23: Otago Sidelined Auckland to Bag 37-Runs Win

The sixth match of the Super Smash 2022-23 was held between Otago and Auckland at John Davies Oval, Queenstown, on 29 December 2022 

Auckland won the toss and invited Otago to bat first. The first inning started with Rutherford and Thorn Parkes at the crease, and Ferguson opened the attack. Rutherford was caught out in the last ball of the 5th over, and Otago reached 41 runs with the loss of one wicket after 5 overs. 

Thorn Parkes also lost his wicket in the following over after 15(18). Finnie tried to chase a good run score, but Solia dismissed him in the 10th over, and he was only able to make 16 runs in 13 balls. 

On the other side, Dean Foxcroft hit some boundaries and reached 44(34) when Louis Delport dismissed him in 14.6 overs. With this, Otago reached 113 runs, losing 4 wickets after 15 overs. Llew Johnson and Rippon were gone in the 17th and 18th, respectively. Otago chased the score of 165/8 after 20 overs and set the target of 166 runs.

The second inning started with Worker and Max at the chase, and Andrew Hazeldine opened the attack. In the 4th over, Michael Rae Credited two back-to-back wickets of Max and Chapman to his account.

Auckland reached 46 runs with the loss of 2 wickets after 6 overs. Worker tried hard to reach a good run score for chasing the targeted run but was caught out by Lockrose in the 7th over after 27 (18).

Robert was also gone after 23 (21) in the 10th over. Foxcroft came to throw the 16th over and took two back-to-back wickets of Adithya Ashok and Den Horne. After that, Auckland lost their pace as well as all wickets in 19.5 overs at a score of 128. As a result, Otago won the 6th match of super smash 2022-23 by 37 runs against Auckland.
