At the end of day 2, England was 79-2 and leading by 98 runs. Stuart Broad and Ollie Pope resumed the play, and Neil Wagner started the bowling. Stuart Broad couldn’t hold on to the strike too long and got out after scoring 7(17). Ollie Pope hit two sixes in the 21st over, and England reached 100 runs. The partnership between Oli Pope and Joe Root reached 50 runs in 38 balls.

In the 26th over, Ollie Pope hit two fours and got out after scoring 49(46). England reached 150 runs in the 28th over. In the 30th over, Harry Brook smashed two fours and one six. He hit two fours on the next over. Joe Root also smashed two fours, and the 50-run partnership between Root and Pope came in just 42 balls.

In the 34th over, Harry Brook smashed back-to-back four boundaries – three fours and one six and England reached 200 runs. In the 36th over, Joe Root scored his fifty in 52 balls, and Harry Brook scored a half-century in 37 balls, and it is his second fifty in this test. Harry Brook got out after scoring 54(41) in the 37th over. Joe Root got out after scoring 57(62) in the 42nd over. After the 1st session, England was 237-6.

Ben Stokes hit back-to-back two fours. In the 49th over, Ben Stokes smashed back-to-back two sixes, overtaking Brendon McCullum and becoming the leading six-hitters. The 50-run partnership between Ben Foakes and Ben Stokes came in the 51st over. Stokes got out after scoring 31(33).

Ben Foakes hit two fours, and England reached 300 runs. In the 61st over, Foakes took a single, reached a half-century, and got out on the next ball after scoring 51(80). After the second session, England was 349-8.

In the 71st over, Robinson got out after scoring 39(48). Jack Leach was the last wicket and returned to the pavilion after scoring 12(40). England scored 374-10 and took the lead by 393 runs. New Zealand got the target of 394 runs.

Chasing 394 runs, Devon Conway and Tom Latham came to bat, and James Anderson opened the bowling attack. Conway got out after scoring 2(10) in the 4th over. Kane Williamson came to bat and returned to the pavilion on duck in the 6th over. Tom Latham got out after scoring 15(27), and it was the third wicket for England and Stuart Broad.

Henry Nicholls got out after scoring 7(20) on Robinson in the 11th over. New Zealand batters were struggling to make a partnership and kept losing their wicket. Blundell was the fifth batter to return to the pavilion, and it was the fourth wicket for Broad. New Zealand reached 50 runs in the 20th over. New Zealand was at 63-5 in 23 overs and trailing by 331 runs at the end of day three.
