On the grounds of Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, the captains of both the teams came up for the toss. New Zealand took the lead and chose to bowl first against India.

Ishan Kishan and Pant came to the crease to open the bowling attack to face the bowling of Tim Southee.

Making a good start in the Ind vs NZ match, Pant smashed the first four in the last ball of the first over. In the 3rd over, Ishan Kishan hit his first four for the side and they got a score of 21 after 3 overs.

In a throw from Ferguson , Kishan flicked a six for India and crunched another four in the next over from Milne. India reached a score of 36 after 5 overs.

Ferguson took the first wicket of Pant from India and Suryakumar Yadav took the batting charge. With Ishan Kishan hitting consistent fours, India reached the half-century at a score of 50 after 6.4 overs with a loss of 1 wicket.

It started raining on the pitch and the authorities had to take a call to proceed with the match. After 7 overs, India got to a score of 51-1. Ishan Kishan bought a boundary on the throw from Ish Sodhi.

Fueling 36 runs in 31 balls, Ishan lost his wicket to Ish Sodhi and after 10 overs, India scored 75 runs  with a loss of 2 wickets. Suryakumar Yadav showed his magical game-play as always.

On the deliveries from Ferguson, Suryakumar Yadav drilled a four and a six in back-to-back balls and India crossed the century. Meanwhile, Ferguson took the wicket of Shreyas Iyer and the side reached at a score of 110-3 after 13 overs. In the 16th over, Suryakumar Yadav reached his 50 and cleared the fence for a six that shifted the score of India to 129-3 after 16 overs.

In the 17th over, SKY got two boundaries and a six on the over from Southee and he bought two sixes and three boundaries in 18th and 19th overs respectively. SKY or 100 run-stand single-handedly and India at 186-3 after 19 overs.

India posted 191 runs on the scoreboard with a loss of 6 wickets.. New Zealand needs 192 runs to get victory in the 2nd T20I.
