BCCI has accepted Roger Binny as the new chief after Sourav Ganguly amidst the T20 World Cup tournament.
On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) AGM Meeting, the authorities called the shots to replace Sourav Ganguly with the former Indian cricketer Roger Binny.
Binny was the highest wicket-taker against India as he picked 18 wickets of opponents in eight games.
Taking the place of Ganguly, Binny has become the 36th president of the BCCI. Cricket administration is not new to him, as he has managed several positions with the Karnataka Cricket Association.
In 2019, he was chosen as KSCA’s president, and Binny served as the senior selector for the National Men’s team. Moreover, he was on the panel when the selections were made for the 2015 World Cup edition.
After Binny replaced Ganguly, the former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin stated, ‘He (Roger Binny) is a nice man. I have played a lot of cricket with him, and we have fond memories.’

- Binny is one of the greatest players who has contributed to team India.
- Roger donned the blue jersey in 27 and 72 One Day International matches, scalping 47 and 77 wickets in the tournaments.
- Binny appeared in the Indian squad that won the 1983 World Cup matches. Under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, he made crucial contributions.
- He was the highest wicket-taker for India, taking 18 wickets in 8 matches.
- Again, he played for India at the 1985 World Championship of cricket, in which he took 17 wickets, and the Indian champs lifted the trophy under the captaincy of Sunil Gavaskar.
