A measured partnership between Brook and Hales took the match to a winning position, and as a result, England won the first T20I Pak vs Eng by 6 wickets.
England has won the toss and chosen to bowl first on their first visit to Pakistan. In a seven-match series against the men in green, England’s skipper Moeen Ali will lead the Three Lions as they prepare for the T20 World Cup that will begin next month. Since Jos Buttler, England’s usual captain is recovering from a calf injury, Ali is taking the helm. Four games will be played in Karachi, with the remaining three beginning on September 28 in Lahore.
Pakistan’s powerplay reached the ideal start with a perfect duo of Babar and Rizwan. In Karachi, David Willey was the first to swing at the new ball as the action got underway. Rizwan’s aggressive shooting and shot placement and Babar’s excellent ball timing have put England under strain.
Seven boundaries in the innings have now been achieved with excellent strokeplay. They have done a fantastic job of utilizing the new ball as it enters the bat. Rizwan had a flawless start and reached his half-century in 31 balls.
After 10 overs, England got their first success. Rashid drew first blood as he bowled out the Pakistan skipper with a brilliant delivery. None of Pakistan’s batting lineup could pick Rashid’s googly from Babar to Rizwan to Iftikhar. They were kept on their toes by the leg spinner’s sufficient variation. Moeen Ali and Rashid put in a good spin to stop the total after strong beginnings from Babar and Rizwan. However, Rizwan excelled during the game and became the first player to reach 2000 T20I runs in record time. PAK scored 158-7 in the first inning.
England started playing, and Alex Hales and Salt came to the ground as starters. Salt crunches the short ball to go over deep square leg and gets caught in the deep with a brilliant catch from Haider Ali. Shahnawaz Dahani, and the Karachi faithful, erupt in celebration. England’s batting lineup has been as smart as they have been aggressive in the powerplay and scored 43-1.
However, England lost 3 wickets in 11 overs. England’s batsmen look to the storm and keep the run rate below 8. Brook gets multiple boundaries, one off an improvisational sweep over a deep fine leg and one off an outside edge. Hales smashes one down the ground to get 15 off the over. They will back themselves against the fast bowlers. In 19.2 overs, a sublime boundary to cap it off by Brook – backed away, gets a full-toss, and drilled the drive wide of extra-cover, and along with this, England won the first T20I PAK Vs ENG by 6 wickets.
