List of Teams With Highest Score in T20 Cricket

T20 is the fastest format of cricket, and it is known for batters hitting boundaries. Nowadays, 80% of matches are played in this format, and every league around the world is playing in this format. IPL is one of the biggest examples of the popularity of this league. As T20 is known for the rain of boundaries, let’s see the highest score in a T20 match by a team. We will consider all the T20 matches including the league and today international cricket match.

Afghanistan 

Afghanistan is in the first place. Since they are not known as hard hitter batters, it may be surprising for many people to see Afghanistan at the top, but they are. They debuted in T20 in 2010, and after 9 years of debut, they are at the top of the table. On 23 February 2019, Afghanistan hit 278 runs against Ireland in Dehradun in a bilateral series. Hazratullah Zazai hit 162 runs in 62 runs with the help of 11 fours and 16 sixes, while Usman Ghani hit 73 runs in 48 balls. Afghanistan won this game by 84 runs.

Czech Republic

Czech Republic may not be a known name in cricket, but he scored the same run as Afghanistan. On 30 Aug 2019, they played a T20 match against Turkey in Continental Cup. Sumit Pokhriyal scored 79 runs, while Sudesh Wickramasekara scored 104 runs in just 36 balls with the help of 8 fours and 10 sixes. In response, Turkey got all out at 21 runs, and the Czech Republic won the match by 257 runs.

Melbourne Stars

When we are talking about the T20 and BBL not being there, it is an impossible task. Melbourne Stars scored 273 runs against the Hobart Hurricanes and made the third-ever highest run in the history of T20 cricket. Maxwell entertained people with his hard-hitting shots and made unbeaten 154 runs.

Trinbago Knight Riders 

Yet another team from another one of the famous leagues. Trinbago knight Riders is a team of CPL. They scored 267 runs against Jamaica Tallawahs in Kingston cricket ground on 13 Sep 2019. Lendl Simmons’ 86 runs in 42 balls, Colin Munro’s 96 runs in 50 balls started the party, and Kieron Pollard joined the party later with 45 runs in 17 balls. Chris Gayle Jamaica Tallawahs can score only 226 runs and lost by 41 runs.  

Royal Challengers Bangalore

RCB holds fifth place, one of the famous franchises from one of the biggest cricket leagues, IPL. On 23 April 2013, RCB scored 263 runs against Pune Warriors. Chris Gayle’s heroic inning of 175 runs against Pune is still the highest individual score in T20 cricket. He scored 175 runs in 66 balls with the help of 13 fours and 17 sixes. PWI scored only 133 runs in reply and lost the match by 130 runs.

Australia 

Australia comes next after RCB in the list. They scored 263 runs against Sri Lanka on 6 September 2016. Glenn Maxwell hit 145 runs in 65 balls with the help of 14 fours and 9 sixes, and other players also contributed to the team reaching 263 runs. Sri Lanka only reached 178 runs in the reply and lost the match by 85 runs.

North West

On 15 September 2018, North West hit 262 runs against Limpopo in the Africa T20 cup. They also secured their place on the list. Wihan Lubbe and Nicky van den Bergh played magnificently well to score 262 runs.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka comes to the list, they scored 260 runs against Kenya. It was the start of the T20 era, and Sri Lanka hit 260 runs against Kenya in the T20 world cup in 2007. It was very rare, at that time, but they made it. Sanath Jayasuriya scored 88 runs in 44 balls, and Jayawardene scored 65 runs in 27 balls. In response, Kenya got all out at 88 and lost the match by 172 balls.

Yorkshire 

Yorkshire scored 260 runs against Northamptonshire in NatWest T20 Blast on 17 August 2017. Adam Lyth scored 161 runs in 73 balls with the help of 20 fours and 7 sixes. Northamptonshire scored 136 runs in the reply and lost the match by 124 runs.

India

India is next on the list, and they scored 260 runs against Sri Lanka on 22 December 2017. Rohit Sharma again performed against his favorite team, he hit 118 runs in 43 balls with the help of 12 fours and 10 sixes. KL Rahul also contributed 89 runs in 49 balls with the help of 5 fours and 8 sixes. In response, Sri Lanka scored only 172 runs and lost the match by 88 runs.

Mumbai

Mumbai is next on the list as they scored 258 runs against Sikkim in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In response, they only scored 107 runs and lost the match by 154 runs.
