Lionel Messi’s World Cup Dream Is Still alive after Argentina Finally Overcame Netherlands

Argentina defeated the Netherlands on penalties in the 2022 World Cup and will face Croatia in the final.

Lionel Messi had Argentina up 2-0 late in the second half with an assist and a goal, but Wout Weghorst scored two late goals to tie the game at 2-2. He set up Nahuel Molina for their first-half goal before converting a penalty kick to put his team on track to face Croatia in the final.

However, Wout Weghorst’s header ten minutes later fired his team into life, and he then forced an extra thirty minutes when he scrambled the ball home with only seconds remaining.

Neither team could produce a winner, and Argentina prevailed on penalties, winning 4-3. After defeating Brazil in a shootout, they will meet Croatia in the semi-finals.

The game was even from the outset, with both sides canceling each other flawlessly until minute 120. The two teams could not add to their totals in extra time, pushing the game to a penalty shootout. Then came the penalties, and we took all five before Lautaro Martnez scored the game-winning goal, sending Argentina through and the Netherlands out.

In the end, Emiliano Martinez made several excellent saves to help Argentina win the penalty shootout 4-3. In the semi-finals, the South Americans will meet Croatia.
