The opening match of Lanka Premier League 2022 between Jaffna Kings and Galle Gladiators. The match was hosted at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Hambantota.
Galle Gladiators won the toss and opted to bowl first. To unveil the batting attack, Avishka Fernando and Gurbaz came to the crease on the opening bowling attack of Riaz.
In the 3rd over, Fernando smacked a four while Gurbaz lost his wicket on the throw from Riaz. After the end of the over, the side got a score of 11-1. Scoring 9 runs in 9 balls, Fernando got a dismissal from Imad Wasim.
In the 5th over, Dhananjaya crunched two fours and a six, moving the score up to 32-2 after 5 overs. Fueling 29 runs in 19 balls, he lost his wicket to Pradeep. With Thisara Perera and Shoaib Malik on the pitch, the side crossed the half-century with a score of 51-4 after 8 overs.

Scoring 15 runs in 21 balls, Nuwanidu Fernando lost his wicket to Wellalage and the right-handed batter, Azam Khan came to the crease. With Kusal Mendis standing strong, the side jumped up to a score of 79-3 after 12 overs. In the 15th over, Mendis got to his 50. Fueling 51 runs, Mendis got a dismissal from M Theekshana.
After 17 overs, GGD boys crossed the century with a score of 100-6. In the clash between Jaffna Kings and Galle Gladiators, the former tasted the 24-runs victory over GGD.
