The upcoming IPL 2023 is set to feature an explosive final league match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT). After a 25-day hiatus, the IPL will finally return to Bengaluru’s M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, where RCB will need to play their best game to win on home soil and earn a spot in the playoffs.
They now sit in fourth place in the IPL standings, but if the Faf du Plessis-led team struggles, things might get tricky. Notably, Mohammed Siraj has been outstanding with the ball while Faf and Virat Kohli are both in terrific form right now. Regarding the defending champs, Shubman Gill is having a fantastic season and just scored an impressive century. There are many advantages for the team right now because Rashid Khan and Mohammed Shami have been outstanding with the ball. However, the squad will be looking for other players to get back into shape as well before Qualifier 1.
In their most recent game, RCB defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by chasing down a 187-run goal. Heinrich Klaasen’s first IPL century enabled SRH to score 186 runs with five wickets remaining. However, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli’s partnership made a mockery of that score by scoring 172 runs for the first wicket. With his sixth IPL century, Kohli was named Player of the Match.
In their most recent match, GT also played SRH, and while batting first, they amassed a total of 188 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Shubman Gill, who struck his first IPL century, was instrumental in the reigning champions’ success with the bat. In response, SRH scored just 154 runs in 20 overs while losing nine wickets and suffering a 34-run defeat. In recognition of his batting performance, Gill was named Player of the Match.
Head to Head: RCB and GT have come against each other twice so far and both have won 1 match each.
When: May 21, 19:30 IST
