Ind vs Sri Lanka, 2nd ODI: India’s All-Round Performance Led to 4 Wickets Victory Over Sri Lanka

At the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, KL Rahul led India to a four-wicket victory over Sri Lanka as part of a series-clinching performance. India completed its successful 216-run chase in the 44th over.

With the triumph, India secured an unbeatable 2-0 series lead. Chasing a manageable 216, India’s openers Rohit Sharma (17) and Shubman Gill (21) got things going quickly, but the hosts quickly lost wickets due to some accurate bowling by the Lankans. India is already in trouble after Virat Kohli was easily eliminated for 4 and Shreyas Iyer also left for 28. Rahul and Hardik Pandya (36) eventually formed a key 75-run partnership, pulling India out of difficulty and restarting the chase. After Hardik left, India moved closer to the goal thanks to some strikes from the in-form Axar Patel (21). In the 44th over, Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav (10*) successfully guided India to victory.

India has been forced to work hard despite expectations that they would easily pursue this small goal. Although Sri Lanka’s bowlers put out a valiant effort and improved their bowling, they were unable to score enough runs. Indian bowlers provided the foundation for this victory by dismissing their opponents for a score of 215.

With a three-fer, Kuldeep Yadav set off a collapse in which the Lankans lost five wickets for 24 runs. They passed the 200-run threshold thanks to three successive 25+ partnerships from the lower order SL batters, but they were skittled out in just 40 overs.
