ICC Women’s U19 World Cup: India Women Lift the Inaugural World Cup Beating England Women by 7 Wicket

On Sunday, India defeated England in the inaugural ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup final.

After England’s batting once again struggled in a crucial game, India bowled them out for a pitiful 68 in just 17.1 overs. The in-form Liberty Heap was taken out by Titas Sadhu in the opening over, and off-spinner Archana Devi also bowled brilliantly to dent England early. As England’s batting order was helpless, the other bowlers chipped in with frequent wickets. In a crucial game, England’s batting once again struggled, and this time they might not escape. They managed to go to 99 near the conclusion of their semi-final match against Australia after being 45/7, but India was simply too strong for them today.

In the opening over, Titas Sadhu picked up the in-form Liberty Heap, and in the fourth over, off-spinner Archana Devi followed up the strong start by bowling a double-wicket over to get rid of captain Scrivens and Fiona Holland. The other bowlers chipped in with consistent strikes, and India’s fielding today has been outstanding, it must be stated. Run-outs, stumping, diving catches, sliding stops, and other such techniques! Titas, Archana, and Parshavi took 2 wickets individually.

In their chase against England Women, India lost both of their openers, captain Shafali Verma and top run-scorer Shweta Sehrawat, but Soumya Tiwari and Gongadi Trisha kept the scoreboard going. In the end, Tiwari scored the winning runs to send the Indian camp into a frenzy. India chased down 69 runs in 14 overs, losing 3 wickets.

India won the inaugural U19 women’s world cup by 7 wickets, beating England W convincingly. For the latest cricket news, cricket Samachar, and Live score, stay tuned with us!
