India vs WI ODI Series: India Defeated WI by 5 Wickets in a Low-Scoring Match

The India defeated the West Indies team in a two-test series, taking the first match by an inning and 141 runs and the second one in a draw. The white ball game is now in play following the test matches. The three-match ODI series between India and West Indies began today.

West Indies’ effort with the bat was appallingly poor. The hosts only lasted 23 overs due to the spinners’ 7 wickets. Kuldeep wasn’t even included till the 19th over. Imagine if he had shown earlier. Mayers played a reckless hack after being sent in, giving away his wicket, but King and Athanaze attempted to steady the batting until the latter was dismissed to a sharp catch at backward point. Hetmyer was brought into the middle when Shardul’s direct ball broke past King’s defence. Hetmyer and Hope faced a challenging assignment after the floodgates were opened by the former’s errant shot. Rohit wisely saw that the pitch was favouring spin and kept the opposing fielders in catching positions.

Jadeja grabbed three wickets, and then Kuldeep came on, the innings completely collapsed. The fact that India did not even have to strive hard when bowling illustrates how bad the West Indies were. It benefited the guests that excellent catches were made.

WI got bowled out at 114 in 23 overs. Chasing down this meagre score, only Ishan Kishan took advantage of the Indian hitters’ complete latitude, striking a furious 50 as he challenged the bowlers. Surya was out LBW as Gill edged a ball to the slips. Shardul was amusingly caught out after Hardik was unfortunate to be run out, but India was always in charge of the pursuit. India played a bit of Uno reverse with their batting order, as skipper Rohit Sharma came out to bat at number 7, allowing a promotion for Kishan, SKY, Hardik, Jadeja and even Shardul Thakur.
