India and New Zealand came against each other at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad for the first match of the ODI series. Captain Rohit won the toss and decided to bat first.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the batting attack and Shipley opened the bowling attack. He started the over with a wide while Rohit Sharma smashed the first boundary on the last ball. Shubhman Gill welcomed Ferguson with a four. In the 3rd over, Rohit Sharma smashed one four and one six to Henry Shipley. After 6 overs, India was 35-0.

Shubman Gill smashed back-to-back four on Blair Tickner and India reached to 50. After 10 overs, India was 52-0. Tickner provided the first success to New Zealand as Rohit Sharma got out after scoring 34(38). He was trying to hit the maximum but the ball went into the air and Mitchell caught the ball.

Santner was bowling well but Shubman Gill smashed two boundaries in the 14th over. The next over also went into India’s favor and the batter smashed three four – 2 by Gill and one by Kohli. Mitchell Santner camback and stunned the Virat Kohli and sent him to the pavilion.

Gill got the half-century with a six and India also touched 100 run mark. On the next over, Lockie Ferguson took the wicket of Ishan Kishan. After 20 overs, India was 114-3. Shubman Gill took 87 deliveries to score a century and became the second player among Indians to hit 3 centuries in 19 innings. Shubman Gill hit the four and reached 1000 runs. He is at second position along with Imam-ul-Haq as he has taken only 19 innings. After 35 overs, India was 214-4.

Shipley dropped Gill in the 38th over and Gill smashed the four on the next ball. Hardik Pandya got out on a controversial decision and returned to pavilion after scoring 28(38). Hardik Pandya couldn’t believe the decision and walk-off unhappy. After 40 overs, 251-5.

Shubman Gill scored his first 150 runs with a six. Washington Sundar got out and Shipley took his maiden wicket. Shardul Thakur sacrificed his wicket and ran out. Shubam Gill smashed six on the second ball of Tickner in the 48th over. In the 49th over, Gill samshed three sixes and scored his maiden double century and got out at 208 (149). India posted 349 in 50 overs at a loss of 8 wickets. New Zealand needs 350 to win.
