In the 8th over, Mitchell Marsh hit a four on the third ball, and the partnership between Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh reached 50 runs. In the 9th over, Head hit two fours. After 10 overs, Australia was at 61-0.

In the 11th over, Travis Head got out after scoring 33(31), and it was the first wicket for India. In the 13th over, Steven Smith returned to the pavilion on the second ball for a duck. In the 15th over, Mitchell Marsh hit a four and got out after scoring 47(47) on the next ball. Australia reached 100 runs in the 19th over with a single. After 20 overs, Australia was at 106-3.

In the 25th over, David Warner got out after scoring 23(31) on the third ball. In the 29th over, Marnus Labuschagne got out after scoring 28(45) on the first ball. Australia reached 150 runs in the 31st over. In the 37th over, Marcus Stoinis got out after scoring 25(26) on the last ball. Australia reached 200 runs in the 38th over with a four. In the 39th over, Alex Carey got out after scoring 38(46) on the first ball. After 40 overs, Australia was at 209-7.

In the 45th over, Abbott hit a six on the first ball, and Agar smashed the six on the fourth ball. Axar had a last laugh as Abbot returned to the pavilion after scoring 26(23). In the 46th over, Ashton Agar got out after scoring 17(21) on the third ball. In the 47th over, Australia reached 250 runs with a single. In the 49th over, Mitchell Starc hit a six on the second ball and got out after scoring 10(11) on the last ball.

Australia got all out at 269 runs in 49 overs and gave a target of 270 runs to India.
