Ind vs SL 1st ODI: India Outclassed Sri Lanka to Win by 67 Runs

At the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, India defeated Sri Lanka by a score of 67 runs in the opening ODI of the three-match series. Virat Kohli and Dasun Shanaka stole the show. In response, India established a formidable total of 373 for 7 against the visitors, who finished their allotted 50 overs at 306 for 8 owing to Dasun Shanaka’s unbeaten 108 off 88 balls.

Virat Kohli hit 113 off 87 balls, his 73rd international century. Rohit Sharma (83) and Shubman Gill (70) of India built a strong foundation with a 143-run opening stand after Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka called for the hosts to play first after winning the toss.

In his 10-over performance, Kasun Rajitha took three wickets but also gave up 88 runs. Dasun Shanaka, Pathaum Nissanka (72), and Dhananjaya de Silva (47) displayed strong fortitude during Sri Lanka’s pursuit but were unable to save a loss. The best bowler was Umran Malik, who finished with 3 for 57.

India ended the innings with a huge 373 score. But Lanka made things simpler by getting off to a slow start. They suffered greatly as a result of losing a few wickets early.

Although DDS and Nissanka gave it their all, their efforts never reached the enormous proportions required by the pursuit. Shanaka arrived a bit too late and obtained a massive run of 108 in 88 balls, but this only helped to narrow the margin of defeat. Sri Lanka could only manage to put 306-8 in 50 overs and lost to the Men in Blue by 67 Runs.

As previously indicated, the 100 runs gained by the ninth wicket stand came too little, too late. Earlier, Kohli’s century and the openers’ fifties helped India advance.
