About Indian Cricket Team

The men’s India international cricket team is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with status for Test, One-Day International (ODI), and Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. They are more commonly known as Team India and occasionally as Men in Blue. Other nations that participate in Test matches have rivalries with the Indian cricket team, most notably Pakistan. In recent years, rivalries with Australia, South Africa, and England have also gotten more attention.

Cricket in India is controlled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In India, the first game was officially recorded in 1721. However, the India international cricket team didn’t play an official Test match until June 25, 1932, at England’s renowned Lord’s Cricket Ground. India, the sixth side to play Test cricket, is recognised for having a great home record but not having much of an influence on away visits. Since then, a lot has changed.

With the rise of batters like Sunil Gavaskar, Gundappa Viswanath, all-arounder Kapil Dev, and good spin spinners in the 1970s, the Indian cricket team flourished. India’s batting lineup became more aggressive in the 1980s because to stroke creators like Azharuddin, Dilip Vengsarkar, and Ravi Shastri. India won the third ICC Cricket World Cup in 1983 by defeating the favourites and two-time defending winners West Indies. This was unquestionably a zenith in Indian sports history.

Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, and Javagal Srinath, who are regarded as some of the finest Indian players of India international cricket tea created much honour for the nation with their outstanding achievements, made their debuts at the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s.

India International Cricket Team – 21st Century (H2)

A new generation of cricketers emerged in the 2000s, including MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, etc. In India’s cricket history, winning the first World Twenty20 in 2007 was a significant event. But the greatest moment of glory occurred on April 2, 2011, when India defeated Sri Lanka in the 2011 Cricket World Cup final in Mumbai, winning the tournament. After 28 long years, an Indian team finally accomplished history under Dhoni’s leadership.

Since 2007, the international Indian Cricket Team has performed admirably in ICC competitions, making it to a number of finals and semifinals. India has played exceptionally well in the longer version of the game, particularly at home. This team finished second in the 2019 Test Championship.

Over the past ten or so years, the Indian national cricket team’s infrastructure has advanced dramatically. In the Indian T20 League, young players are getting good exposure and opportunities to compete alongside legendary players, making their bench strength one of the strongest in the league right now.
