IND vs. SA T20I 2022 SERIES MATCH PREVIEW

Team India has been playing multiple matches in recent days that are fueling their gameplay as the warm-up matches for the T20 World Cup 2022 preparation. In today’s match of India with South Africa, this is the final week of preparing for the prestigious upcoming tournament. Both the squads came against each other previously in June and there have been many changes in both worlds.

After witnessing Kohli’s devastating performances in recent years, Virat has come back into the groove with appreciating performances in the top order. There is still scope for improvement in his strike rate. For the upcoming matches, the bowlers Harshal Patel and Arshdeep Singh might occupy the third position. Both the players have wonderful chances to show their potential to the world in the fixtures against South Africa.

Gradually, the management of the India cricket team is coming closer to picking Dinesh Karthik over Rishabh Pant.

Last year was great for South Africa in T20I matches, gaining the victory in 13 T20Is out of 18. Playing 5 matches with India, South Africa won a series in England and against Ireland, identifying the right top-order players in the squad.

However, there will be big confusion about the players, making their way for Temba Bavuma; he is a skipper who has returned to the squad. According to the latest cricket updates, he was overlooked by all the franchises in the inaugural season of the SA20 auction.

Date & Time of the Match

India vs South Africa – September 28, 2022, at 7 PM IST

Location – Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram

Expectations

In this venue, only two T20Is matches have been conducted with one of 20 overs on each side on the ground in 2019. There are no chances of rain to impede today’s gameplay as there is a cloudy sky with a temperature in the 20s.

Availability of the Players

Shami hasn’t reached the location to appear for the first T20I, so, he may be missing the gameplay due to Covid after contributing to the Australia series. Due to a back injury, Deepak Hooda can’t join the squad. The men in blue will play without Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya in this squad. Both players are supposed to undergo conditioning-related training at the NCA in Bengaluru for the T20 World Cup 2022.

Tricks and Pairing

As Hardik is not available in the team, the series of Ind vs SA will be a wonderful opportunity for Pant to prove his potential for the Indian side. The reason behind this is that the management decided to prefer Dinesh Karthik over him in recently held games.

Yuzi has a good record of taking the wickets of the left-handed batter, Quinton de Kock in T20s. He had an average game against Australia, so he is more likely to look for a turn.

Probable XI: Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel, and Arshdeep Singh

Availability of the Players

After three months, Bavuma has returned to his squad. In the previous clashes with India in June, he sustained an elbow injury.

Tricks and Pairing

In the T20I against India in August, Wayne Parnell got five wickets which can be troubling for the top-order batters. To represent the batting, SA might keep Quinton de Kock and David Miller in the lead to go for a blunt performance.

Probable XI: Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markram/Rilee Rossouw, Temba Bavuma, Heinrich Klaasen/Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Wayne Parnell, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Anrich Nortje, and Tabraiz Shamsi.

Facts You Should Know:

  • In 25 ball throws of Kagiso Rabada, Rohit Sharma has scored 37 runs while being dismissed twice.
  • Yuzvendra Chahal has knocked out Quinton de Kock 6 times in 39 throws.

Rohit Sharma on Harshal Patel

‘Coming back from an injury is never easy. He missed cricket for close to two months. Whenever bowlers go through an injury phase and come back, it’s never easy, so we’re not really judging him on how he has performed in these three games because we know his quality. He has bowled some tough overs for us in the past, and also for his franchise. We believe in his quality.’

What did Temba Bavuma say?

This is our last series before the World Cup. We’ll be looking at this series to fill up whatever gaps that are there within the team.’
